Forecast and Warnings centre

The Center, headed by the Director of the Center, ensures:

In operational activities

  • the continuous professional and technological development of the Center in accordance with national legislation and relevant EU legislation, relevant international or bilateral agreements, respectively. guidelines and recommendations of relevant international organizations,
  • cooperation with WMO and its members in the operation of the global processing system and in the development of forecasting methods in meteorology,
  • cooperation with ECMWF and its members in the operation of the global forecasting system and in the development of forecasting methods,
  • fulfillment of operational tasks (material, financial, time-related) in accordance with the Center's task plan,
  • coordination of comprehensive provision of operational activities in the field of flood systems,
  • coordination of operational activities of warning monitoring systems of meteorology, hydrology, natural background radiation, ground-level ozone and smog,
  • providing operational information for specialized users and emergency (crisis) management of the Slovak Republic,
  • coordination of data processing from the Unified Radiation Data Database in the Slovak Republic,
  • ensuring the operation and operation of the Partial Monitoring System "Environmental Radioactivity"

In research and development activities

  • application theoretical knowledge from the field of meteorology, hydrology and related scientific disciplines into the research and development tasks of the Center,
  • preparation of research and development projects and their solution,
  • participation of the Center's professional employees in various scientific councils, coordination committees, advisory boards, opponent committees, etc.,
  • coordination and solution of research tasks resulting from international agreements. 

In international activities, for

  • direct participation of CPaV employees in the work of international organizations,
  • activity of permanent representatives - experts in technical committees and working groups, especially in WMO, EU, ECMWF, Border Waters and others,
  • cooperation with foreign institutions in the field of exchange of operational hydrological and meteorological information,
  • fulfillment of conditions agreed in international agreements for the exchange of data from early warning systems against radiation with Austria and Hungary.
